And you will find the activities that are eating up your profits.

So back to my client – it is now over a year ago that I first saw that his profits get less and less. SO I called him and told him it would be necessary to take a look at what he is doing – something is wrong.

But guess what his answer was? “I have no time for such a meeting – there is so much work i have to do in my company”

After a year of hard work (he still has so much work) and a year of calling him on a regular basis reminding him and telling him about his financial key figures- he is deep in debt. And I don’t think he will manage to make a turn around.

Now you will ask me ?why do you tell me this stuff?

I am always asked the same question by my client: “Why do you tell me about the financial stuff, I have so much work and my revenue is great”

I just want to remind you that revenue isn’t the stuff that buys you your house or pays you your car – it is profit that counts – and you have to take time to do a planning and review of your finance otherwise you may end up in the same situation as my client – working hard every day – and in the end there is nothing left but a lot of debts.

So take out your time management tool and set an appointment for yourself when you will take your financial statements and review them and write a business plan for the next year.

Water committee to seek legal opinion

Canterbury’s first regional water committee could be calling in the lawyers to settle a possible conflict of interest affecting several members.

The Hurunui-Waiau zone committee, which met for the first time this week, was unable to resolve what role members with irrigation interests would play during river-use discussions.

The committee’s code of conduct prohibits members from discussions or decisions on matters in which they have a financial interest.

Committee member Mike Hodgen, chairman of the Hurunui Water Project, questioned whether he would be stood down from irrigation discussions

Car Talk:

Dear Tom and Ray: My aunt called me the other day and said she had trouble trying to find the place where you put more windshield- washer fluid. She told me the only cover she found was one that said “Coolant.” You guessed it – she put the windshield-washer fluid in the coolant reservoir. She then told me that she used a bottle of Windex instead of the diluted blue stuff you buy for car windshields. What should I do to help her, and what possible damage did she do?

Adam

TOM: Well, the first thing you can do to help her is open her hood and show her where the windshield-washer reservoir is. Then take a big magic marker and label it for her.

RAY: The next thing I’d do is take the car to a mechanic and have the coolant flushed out and replaced. But I don’t think she did any damage.

TOM: Me neither. If I had to guess, I’d say the dominant ingredients in Windex are water and ammonia. There might even be a little ethylene glycol (aka coolant) in there!

RAY: There’s a small amount of soap in Windex. But my guess is that any suds would be suppressed by the high pressure inside the cooling system. I mean, she might find her engine compartment overflowing with soap suds tomorrow morning, but I doubt it. It’s not like she put Dawn Dishwashing Liquid in there.

TOM: Flushing the cooling system certainly will remove all doubt about any future damage that might result

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

The causes for sleep apnea are mainly categorized in two ways, obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is the most common reason, and it occurs due to any blockage in the normal air passage. Central sleep apnea is caused because of malfunctioning of the central nervous system, which controls the breathing procedure. A third type, called mixed sleep apnea is also a possibility, which manifests the combined symptoms of obstructive and central apneas.

Sleep apnea includes many effective treatment strategies such as medications, external appliances, and surgical procedures. The mechanical devices include continuous Positive Airway Pressure, Variable Positive Airway Pressure, Automatic Positive Airway Pressure, and Mandibular advancement splint. Surgical procedures such as tonsilectomy, adenoidectomy and uvulopalatopharyngoplasty are also proven treatments for sleep apnea. Neurostimulator medications are prescribed for central sleep apnea, however, behavioral changes and good sleep practices can be the primary aid to relieve from sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is a serious disorder, which requires medical attention. The seriousness of disease can be due to sleep deprivation and oxygen deprivation.

Harness the power of the sun for cash Iain Johnson

0 Comments | Brentwood Gazette, Jul 28, 2010 | by Iain Johnson

A NEW business in Warley is planning on bringing some sunshine into residents’ lives by saving cash on their energy bills.

The Ecoteam, based in The Drive, is accredited by the Government under the Microgeneration Scheme as an installer of photovoltaic systems, commonly known as solar panel heating. Although the initial cost for a system is between Pounds 4,000 and Pounds 20,000, new legislation which was passed in April means homeowners with such a renewable energy system will be paid for the energy they produce.

The amount is determined by the Feed in Tariff (FIT), which currently stands at 41.3p for every kilowatt hour (Kwh) of electricity generated.

The Government has guaranteed the FIT rate for 25 years from the point a household starts producing energy.

There is also the option of selling unused electricity to energy companies at 3p per Kwh.

Clawed back It is estimated that through the cashback scheme the cheapest PV system could be paid for in 13 years while the initial cost of the top-of-the-range model will be clawed back in around 10 years because it generates more electricity to sell on.

Joint owner of The Ecoteam, which was set up in 2007, is Felipe Gorsuch-Browne, 42, a former construction worker from Hartswood Road.

He said: “We went into it because we were told it was a good area to move into and the Government has put good incentives in place for people on this.

“What I think is really important is to say that we are not like a typical double-glazing sales company and we are not interested in pressure sales.

“We are specialists in solar and we do not ask you to place an order during an initial visit.

“Also the cash back from the Government offers a better return than putting your money into many traditional places, such as bank accounts.”

Plus, he took an Internet Guru course on “7 Ways To Make A Killing On The Internet”.

Joe thinks that all he has to do to get large amounts of web traffic is build a nice looking site using one of the “optimized” templates that he bought from another Internet marketing guru for $97 and then he can just sit back and let the “moolah” roll in.

He has visions of candy apple red Corvettes and vacation houses on the lake. Plus, a bank account with six figures in it. Also, four or five exotic vacations a year to places he has never been.

The truth that Joe will eventually discover about generating web traffic is that it is hard, not easy as all the guru’s have told him it was. So, if you want to build a web site that has large amounts of targeted web traffic you must expect that you are going to have to work long and hard to get it.

Virginia-based Fraternity bans Confederate garb

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.

A college fraternity inspired by Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee has banned members around the country from wearing Confederate uniforms to “Old South” parties and parades after years of complaints that the tradition was racially insensitive.

The Virginia-based Kappa Alpha Order issued new rules to chapters earlier this year saying members aren’t allowed to wear Rebel uniforms to parties or during their parades .

The decision, announced in an internal memo posted on the group’s website, followed a flap last year at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where a black sorority complained after a KA parade stopped in front of its house on campus

Hide changing in front

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Hide changing in front of you,? as he started to pour down the? [a pause came]?brownish bottle of liquid.

Then after the fact, when he realized it wasn?t what he thought it was, he became outraged?and lost for words, throw the bottle on the hard concert sidewalk like a madman, the glass and contents shooting in all directions, and his arms went flying in the air upward, his fists scolded us two figures up the hill staring down at him, up the street: us two figures breathed into our nostrils new air. A crowed started forming around the middle-aged drunk: sympathy comes in strange ways.

I, myself was ashamed, I even watched it, participated in it, but it was only until now that reality of the moment took hold of me, of both us boys I suppose. And later on I?d feel kind of, let?s say, somewhat remorseful, that is I never did it again?he did say (Mike?stoutly), ?never again?.
